Mod Applications

Mod applications are not open, they have never been open, and they likely will never be opened. Sorry.

Ministrife Figures

This is an example of what a ministrife is.
This panel of Homestuck is where they originated.

synpath/sympath

What is a synpath? Mod Virus: A synpath is something (usually a character) that someone identifies with but not as. Synpath is a tidy name for something you identify with on several levels, which could be a concept that resonates really strongly with you, an animal or mythological creature you feel you act like, or a person or character you share a lot of common behaviors with, among other things.

Tarot

What is tarot? Mod Virus: Tarot is a 78 card system used for divination. It is used to see more than what we can by offering up different archetypes and meanings with each card. The card is drawn by and read in correlation to the questions. If there is something that I feel like is very important in the card, I will let my intuition guide me in what I need to tell my client.

common terms

Vessel: the human form that an angel would take when on earth.
Shift: when you feel more like one kintype than any of your others at the time.
Comfort Character: A character that comforts you to think about, either because you relate to them on a non-kin level or they were someone that you were good friends with in a past life.
Otherkin: People who are kin with something/someone who is not a fictional character or a real life human, i.e. catkin
Fictionkin: Someone who is kin with a fictional character, i.e. Homestuck kin.
Factkin: Someone who is kin with a human person who is not fictional, i.e. someone kin with Alexander Hamilton.
Fictive: From Mod Turnip, "A fictive is a member of a multiple system whose entire identity is that of a fictional character. So while someone who is kin with someone feels that their kintype is a part of their identity, a fictive is a member of a system whose identity (as well as, generally, memories, behavior, and body image) is entirely that of someone from fiction."

Tutorials

A tutorial on using pendulums.
Step 0: obtain a pendulum.Step 1: find a flat surface to balance the weighted end on.Step 2: learn what your pendulum’s yes/no/maybe signals are. Some people learn them through asking questions they already know the answer to and others learn it by asking the pendulum to show what they are directly. Either option works.Step 2.5: ask your pendulum if they are willing to be your pendulum. If you want to answer questions about your own kin life, ask if they are willing and able to do that. If you want to answer questions for other people’s kin lives, like we do here, ask if they are willing and able to do that. If the answer is no to any of the questions, don’t try to force your pendulum to do it anyway.Step 3: Ask the questions your pendulum has agreed to answer. If you aren’t sure if the question fits into your pendulum’s agreed upon abilities, ask if they can answer that specific question.Optional step 4: name your pendulum through the alphabet game or by picking a name that feels right and asking if they like it. Optional step 5: ask your pendulum what pronouns they would like to use.

ID & Literal

What is the difference between kin and ID? Mod Turnip says: Different people have different meanings for these words; Often, the difference of kin vs ID to someone is just the strength of the connection, but sometimes it is more specific. In my experience, you can have any level of connection with a kintype, but an ID is a constant or fundamental part of your identity.
What is the difference between ID and Literal? With an ID, there is still a level of separation. With a literal, they are literally you at all times.

Pendulums

What’s a pendulum? A pendulum is a rock/crystal/trinket/item which is tied to a string/chain/rope that is used for divination or getting an answer. The way it moves gives an answer of yes, no, maybe, ask later or more.
How does a pendulum work? It matters on your belief system. Some people think it is a higher power. Some think it is this the cosmos. Some believe it is the subconscious that causes the muscles to move in your arm and move the pendulum. Either way, the direction it moves is where the answer lies.
Is it a good idea to have a good relationship with your pendulum? In our opinion, yes.
Is it normal for pendulums to have an attitude? Yes.
Is it normal for a pendulum to have no name or preferred pronouns? Yes, completely. Some pendulums are more fickle than others. It just so happens that most of ours have attitudes.
Do pendulums make good company? Not integrally, but they do tend to be comfort objects or similar.
Do pendulums get fussy when they are not used often? Some do. It varies from pendulum to pendulum though.
Are pendulums always accurate? No. Please take all answers with a grain of salt, especially if you feel its wrong!
